Trump Once Again Claimed He Averted India-Pakistan War Through Trade Diplomacy

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has once again taken credit for easing tensions between India and Pakistan, suggesting that conflict was averted through trade negotiations.

Speaking during a media interaction at the White House alongside South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Trump referenced past hostilities between the two South Asian nuclear powers. “We did that. We resolved the conflict through trade,” Trump said.

He added that the U.S. is now poised to make significant trade deals with both countries. “We’re going to make a big deal with India, and we’re going to make a big deal with Pakistan as well,” Trump asserted.

Reflecting on his intervention during a time of heightened military tensions, Trump recalled confronting both nations' leadership. “I said to them: ‘What are you people doing? Sooner or later, someone will have to make the final move,’” he remarked, describing the situation as escalating rapidly. “Attacks were getting worse and more intense. We resolved it two days later. If something big had happened, they would’ve blamed Trump.”

He praised the leaders of both nations for heeding his advice. “The people of Pakistan are wonderful, and they have great leadership. Modi is my friend too, and we did a good job,” Trump concluded.

The remarks highlight Trump’s continued efforts to position himself as a peacemaker on the global stage, particularly in regions prone to conflict.
